IS-BAO
The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operators is both a code of best practices and a voluntary standard. It is specifically designed by, and for, the business aviation industry. SMS is at the heart of the IS-BAO standard.
Skytation is actively involved in IS-BAO auditing, training and implementation support since 2005. In 2010 we became the first -and still remain one of the very few- European firm to have performed all three levels of IS-BAO audits (i.e., Stage 1, 2 and 3, each denoting a specific level of SMS maturity) and continue to perform such audits. Skytation is naturally listed by the Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation to assist operators seeking BDCA approval under Article 85 or the Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order 2007. We're also recognized as an IS-BAO Support Services Affiliate by IBAC to provide implementation support, including technical writing, training and other associated services.
Following its official endorsement by the European Committee for Standardisation (i.e., CEN) in August 2009, IS-BAO is therefore recognised as an industry standard in Europe and is a perfect mean of compliance. This is of particular interest to operators of complex aircraft who need to comply with the latest EASA requirements. The IS-BAO and its SMS Toolkit are clearly their best option since none of the alternative programmes has achieved that level of international recognition and endorsement.
